African American Studies is a minor that studies the history, culture, contributions, religion, and broad experience of Black/African Americans, their descendants, and the connections across time and space. The minor affords students an opportunity to understand and appreciate the diverse experiences of American people of the African diaspora. The curriculum explores Black American cultures and experiences in the United States. Students will examine the complex history, culture, and contemporary experiences of Black people in an ever-changing world. Students are encouraged to seek connections between Black/African American studies and their work in other disciplines and programs.
