The Creative Writing minor program provides students from a range of backgrounds and majors at St. John Fisher the chance to develop their voices as creative writers. Students explore language, voice, and storytelling through poetry, fiction, and nonfiction writing, and apply those skills to evolving technologies, including digital media content creation.
Students in the minor pursue cocurricular opportunities on and off-campus. Local opportunities include working with the Fringe Festival, Writers & Books, and local publishers like BOA Editions. Students also work with faculty to host guest authors for St. John Fisher University’s Father John Cavanaugh Reading Series.
Creative Writing minors develop professional skills in leadership, communication, and editing by working on St. John Fisher’s undergraduate journals ANGLES and The Red Letter.
Through the Creative Writing minor program, students become versatile writers capable of transferring their creative skills with integrity into ever-changing personal, professional, and community situations.
